The Bootloader is the tool that loads the system software on the device and determines the priority for processes that run on the phone. The Bootloader is locked on new phones, to prevent this tool from being damaged by unauthorized use or modification.
Unlocking the Bootloader allows you to install custom firmware on your Android phone and gives you full access privileges to make modifications to the phone. You can download the Unlock tool from the link.

After the device is unlocked, it becomes less secure and Some features which require high security level (e.g., Find device, added-value services, etc.) will no longer be available.
Steps:
1. Download the Mi Unlock app to PC from the link https://en.miui.com/unlock/download_en.html and sign in with your Mi Account.
2. Swich of your phone manually, and hold Volume down key and Power button to enter Fastboot mode.
3. Now Connect your phone to Computer using USB cable and click on "Unlock".
